Sadlark Press

Today is a RED LETTER DAY in the history of earthVSsoup press.

For my final printmaking project I had to come up with a name for my press. I was having a hard time doing this. I wanted it to be something cool and meaningful to me since I'll probably be using it for the rest of my life.
Jack Vance is my absolute favorite author, so I thought it would be cool to name my press after a character in one of his novels. But I wanted to do this the right way (i.e. obtain some kind of permission to do this).

I won't go into too many details, but let's just say that today I obtained permission from the Hugo and Nebula award winning SFWA Grand Master HIMSELF to name my press Sadlark Press!

But, you ask, what does this mean for the future of earthVSsoup press? Will Proton Penguin be discontinued? Are you going to get all fancy on us and start charging us for comic books?

Answers: Hang on a second. Absolutely not. And I wish.

All it means is that earthVSsoup press will become earthVSsoup comics, a subsidiary of Sadlark Press. I've still got big plans for Proton Penguin in the pipeline so he's not going anywhere. Who knows(Aimee)? I might even be bringing back some old villains! And finally, you have nothing to worry about, ALL the newsletters will continue to be FREE.

Now that I've got a name, all I have to do is the actual project.

Halloween Spacktacular

Today I got a lot done. In between eating and walking around, I also bought some stickers and finished the cover of the new Proton Penguin #2: Special Halloween Issue. It will be interesting to see if I get it finished before Halloween. I thought of the story while watching the last episode of From the Earth to the Moon. While it wasn't relevant to the story in any way, it was inspiring in a general sort of way. Triumph of the human spirit kind of thing.
If you've seen the kind of work i've been doing lately, then you'll know that I like to put hats on birds. so you're probably wondering, "What kind of hat has he put on him?" Well, as you can see, I've used MS Paint to black out all the parts of the cover that would give his costume away. So you'll have to wait until whenever I feel like finishing this to find out.

A lot of people (one) have(has) been asking, "What's next for the Penguin?" and "When is issue #0.75 coming out?" Well, Michelle, I think i'm going to stick with whole numbers from now on. As for what's next, who knows? Olde, dead villains might return from the grave, (I kind of HAVE to do that since this IS a comic book after all.) but some new villains will definitely be introduced. I've got a lot of ideas. Mostly ones I came up with during Microbiology 4 or 5 years ago. All of those are kind of sciency and seemed really funny at the time, but I was on a lot of medication back then if you'll recall.

deady bear...........get it?

What does all this mean? Is this the beginning of the new earthVSsoup press comic book series? Or was I just wasting time last weekend trying to avoid doing any "real" work, which I have a lot of?

I guess you'll never know. Alls I'm saying is that it would be pretty awesome to have that bear fight legions of the undead for the good of all humanity. I think about it all the time and IT IS GREAT! Can you just imagine him and that rabbit in a dilapidated old house, absolutely surrounded by hordes of re-animated corpses? And having to use baseball bats, chainsaws, molotov cocktails, sawed-off shotguns, bear traps(haha), flaming arrows, anvils, machetes, and samurai swords to fight them off? But also zombie-related things are a dime a dozen in this, two-thousand and ten, the Year of Our Lord. So I would have to come up with a really good "plot", something I don't really "excel" at.

OFFICIAL Current Employee Roster As Of October 7th, 2010
1. John-Michael Perkins

SO as you can see, earthVSsoup press would need at least one more "employee" if we were to pull this off. If you like making the big bucks, well you're out of luck. BUT if you like being famous well, you're still out of luck. BUTT if you like drawing poorly drawn cartoon bears and making them do stupid things, then earthVSsoup press just might be the place for YOU, soldier!

03 - Kumadon VS Usagirah

Third installment in the brand new mystery comic.

02 - Kumadon VS Usagirah

The second installment in the new mysterious comic!

Brand New EARTHvsSOUP Press Comic Line!

This is the very first installment in the brand new comic series! I won't explain much now because I don't want to give any of it away. I have a lot of these planned and I will post them as I finish them. They're all fairly simple so I should be updating this quite regularly. Check back often!
This marks an important milestone in the history of EARTHvsSOUP Press. Now there are two comics being produced concurrently: Proton Penguin AND this mysterious one! I probably need a logo or something now.

Love,

3 More Levels

I just couldn't stop adding levels to Proton's ship last night. I took some suggestions from some fans(art studio), and some suggestions I ignored. (I'm sorry, I just don't see Proton Penguin - The All American Superhero - playing "rugby.")
Some REALLY important rooms that I just can't imagine how I forgot to put them into the previous levels include:

1.) Forensic Laboratory
2.) Antarctic Simulation Room
3.) The Quantum Leap Accelerator Room
4.) and last but certainly not least, David Bowie's Private Suite

If you have any more suggestions please hesitate to send them because I think I'm finally done. (not really.)

Proton Penguin's Space/Deep Sea Vessel

In celebration of the upcoming issue, Proton Penguin #2: Penguins in SpACE, I am releasing the top secret plans for his ship. Apparently it can go underwater or in space, which is kind of like a wet dream for me. It's got 6(SIX!) levels and instead of being named ridiculous things like "Level 1" or "Level 3", they are named sweet things like, "Level Delta" or "Level Alpha." So I've got drawings of all six levels (Alpha - Zeta) complete with room descriptions. If anyone can think of any other cool rooms that I accidentally left out, send me an email or something. ("I didn't think I would need a 'Hot Chicks Room' but I use that darn thing all the time!") There's also a drawing of the ship in 2 of its modes, Deep Sea Mode and Space Mode. There might be other modes. Who knows?
